Bronze Pigment
Bronze Pigment
Bronze pigment is produced from a copper-zinc alloy through processes such as melting, ball milling, classification, and surface chemical treatment. It is a floating, flake-like metallic pigment with a shimmering golden luster that can float in binders, providing a brilliant golden effect.
Color: rich gold, pale gold, rich pale gold, copper, rose gold.
The coarser the particles, the stronger the metallic sensation, more sparkling, but with poorer coverage. Conversely, smaller particles result in a weaker metallic sensation, softer color, and better coverage.
It’s primarily used in industries such as Printing, Ink, Paints, Coatings, Colored plastics, Spraying on home appliances and automobile exteriors.

Usage Suggestions About Bronze Pigment
Start by adding the bronze pigment under slow stirring. Gradually add a solvent to the powder in fractions, using a ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 (solvent to powder).
Stir at low shear force for about 15 minutes until the mixture becomes paste-like.
Add the required amount of gold-tone oil and stir thoroughly to ensure uniform mixing.
Adjust to the desired viscosity with a solvent.
To prevent the flake-like particles of bronze pigment from curling and breaking during dispersion, which would reduce the optical effect, it’s best to use a paddle stirrer or disc disperser at medium speed.
Quality Control
- During the ball milling process, test the particle size, hue, and gloss.
- In the polishing phase, test the brightness, hue, and particle size of the copper-gold powder in each transfer barrel, ensuring that the brightness and hue are consistent within the same batch.
- Mixing: For each batch of product, perform sample testing for brightness, hue, and particle size.
Packaging and Storage
Storage Instructions for Bronze Pigment:
- Store the gold powder at room temperature and away from light for two years or more. Beyond this period, the brightness of the powder may decrease and turn yellow, affecting the printing quality.
- Gold bars solidified with resin should be stored for half a year. It is recommended that customers use them within three months, as they may become unusable due to denaturation after this period.
- Once made into ink, the quality is best within three months. After opening, ensure the lid is securely closed. Do not exceed 30% of old ink when mixing with new ink for use.
- Products with a particle size above 400 mesh are non-hazardous, while those below 400 mesh are flammable.
- Long-term storage may lead to settling, but the product can be used normally after stirring.
- The product performs best two to three months after production.
