Bronze powder is a high-quality metallic pigment widely used in the surface coating of art models. It imparts a metallic sheen and texture to the models, giving them a noble and elegant appearance under light, thereby enhancing their visual appeal.
Customer’s Requirments
A client from Saudi Arabia, an advertising company, approached us with a request. They have a batch of small art models that need to be painted. However, the client is unsure about how to choose the right pigment to achieve a metallic effect and hopes we can help them solve the problem of creating a metallic color effect for their art models.
The Main Challenge
The main challenge is how to accurately portray the metallic texture of the art models. While traditional paints and coatings can provide some color effects, they struggle to replicate the authentic metallic sheen and texture.
How to Slove the Issue？
We sent the client images of art models that we had previously sprayed with bronze powder (as shown below). The client quickly confirmed that this was exactly the effect they were looking for.
When using bronze powder to color models, it is typically applied through spraying or brushing. To achieve the best results, it is recommended to first apply a layer of primer on the model’s surface, followed by evenly spraying the bronze powder. This enhances adhesion and ensures a more durable effect.
Bronze powder can be mixed with varnish or other transparent coatings to achieve different coating thicknesses and levels of sheen. Depending on the needs of the model, the dilution ratio can be adjusted to control the intensity of the metallic shine. To protect the durability of the bronze powder coating, it is common to apply a transparent protective varnish over it. This not only prevents oxidation and fading but also enhances the coating’s wear resistance, ensuring that the art model maintains its metallic luster over time.
We provided the client with the above solution. To achieve a smooth and even coating, we recommended that the client apply multiple thin layers of spray rather than a single thick coat. This approach helps avoid uneven coating or sagging.

Brief Introduction of Bronze Powder
Different grades of bronze powder produce varying metallic effects. The color classification typically includes categories like rich gold, pale gold, rich pale gold, and copper gold (as shown in the image below).
In addition to color, the particle size of the bronze powder also affects the metallic effect. Coarser particle sizes create a sparkling metallic effect, while finer particle sizes result in a smooth metallic texture (as shown in the image below).
